XRP Futures Shatter Records as CME Exchange Sees $1B Open Interest in Just 3 Months
CME Group's cryptocurrency derivatives market has achieved a historic milestone with $30 billion in notional open interest, driven by strong participation from both institutional and retail investors. XRP futures emerged as the standout performer, becoming the fastest contract to exceed $1 billion in open interest—reaching this benchmark in merely three months.
SOL futures and ETH options also surpassed the $1 billion mark, underscoring the increasing maturity of crypto markets. Prominent attorney Bill Morgan emphasized XRP's unprecedented growth, noting 251,000 contracts traded and $9.02 billion in volume. XRP futures open interest reached an all-time high of 6,000 contracts on August 18, following a single-day record of $235 million in July.
